Elke de Jonge

PhD candidate

Elke has worked at Accare as a doctoral candidate since 2019.

Biography

Elke de Jonge is a doctoral candidate at Accare working on research into sex differences within autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). During her Bachelor’s degree in Psychobiology and her Master’s in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Amsterdam, she explored the working of the human brain and the link with human behaviour. In her research at Accare, Elke uses electro-encephalography (EEG). This method enables the measurement of brain activity by means of electrodes placed on the head. During her PhD, Elke is developing knowledge of how boys and girls with ASDs differ and she hopes that this knowledge will contribute to improvements in diagnosing and treating autism.
