Biography

Femy started working at Accare within the outpatient clinic in Groningen. She worked there as a practitioner, with many different target groups. From children with autism and ADHD, and the treatment of young children to adolescents with anxiety and mood disorders, personality disorders and trauma. In 2008, Femy became manager of the children’s groups in the Smilde clinic. She started the transformation of these groups into a department focusing on family treatment - the programme that we now call the KINGS (Kind in Gezond Systeem [Child in a Healthy System]) model. The treatment programme is intended for children and parents principally dealing with interpersonal trauma. Both parents and child are treated. The KINGS model is still in development and a doctoral research study on KINGS was started in 2019. Femy has written several publications on the KINGS model.
