Biografie
Lysbert studied Educational Sciences at the University of Groningen. During her master's degree in Orthopedagogy, she did an internship at Accare, at the outpatient clinic in Hoogezand.
In April 2021 she started working as a PhD student on a study into the effectiveness of KINGS (Child IN Healthy System): a trauma-oriented treatment for families with multiple and complex problems, which is offered from the clinical department of Accare in Smilde. . The research is being conducted in collaboration with the University of Groningen and Erasmus University Rotterdam. It is investigated whether KINGS is effective in reducing trauma symptoms in parents and children, behavioral problems in the child, parenting burden and improving the quality of family and parenting conditions. More specifically, research is also being carried out into what exactly works on KINGS: which components of the treatment model determine its effectiveness? And: which families benefit the most from KINGS and why? To be able to answer these questions, sub-studies are set up that focus on (1) the target population of KINGS, (2) the content of the program (i.e., treatment activities reported by professionals), (3) the effectiveness of KINGS (up to six months after treatment completion), and (4) parents' and youths' experiences with KINGS.
Lysbert hopes the study will complement the positive clinical impressions and indirect evidence of efficacy of the KINGS model with a systematic evaluation of its effects. The study is expected to be completed by mid-2025.
