Biografie
Selena studied pedagogical sciences at Leiden University and completed her research master 'Developmental psychopathology in education and child studies' there in 2021. Then she started as a PhD candidate at Accare on the project: Biomarkers in Infants at Risk of Developmental Disorders, or the BIRD study. This study is being conducted in collaboration with the Developmental Neurology department of the Beatrix Children's Hospital of the UMCG. The BIRD study investigates early signs of developmental disorders. It is a follow-up study of the standardization study IMP-SINDA in which 1700 babies were examined with regard to their motor, neurological and general development. Selena hopes that this research can contribute to the early identification of developmental disorders. In this way, preventive action can be taken to reduce or even prevent problems in the daily lives of children.
