Remember the Past
Body-related Autobiographical Memories in Patients with an Eating Disorder
In this research project, we are examining memories of the own body and emotions associated with these memories in people with an eating disorder.
Background
A negative body image appears to play an important role in the persistence of eating disorders. Autobiographical memories (memories about of your own life) are an important source of how people define themselves and their bodies. According to research, autobiographical memories are an important factor in many mental disorders, but we don't yet know much about memories in people with eating disorders. That is why in this research project we look at memories of the own body and at emotions linked to these memories in people with an eating disorder.
The research study
If you want to participate in this study, there will be 2 online appointments with the researchers. At each appointment you will write down memories about your body and complete some questionnaires (about self-disgust, avoidance and eating disorder symptoms). The research takes about 2 hours in total (about 1 hour per appointment). You will receive financial compensation for your participation.
