Biography
Kim studied the Research Master Developmental Psychopathologies in Education and Child Studies at the University of Leiden. After graduating she started her Phd project at Accare. Her PhD project focusses on developing and researching a program to support students with planning and organizational difficulties in secondary education. Many students experience difficulties with planning and organizing their academic work. These difficulties can lead to stress, disturbing behavior in class, low grades, failing class and eventually dropping out of school. Nevertheless, so far no evidence-based method to support students with planning problems exists in the Netherlands, often leading to schools developing programs themselves. This results in a wide variety of available programs between schools and the question arises whether that what is offered, actually is effective. Based on scientific knowledge, and in cooperation with teachers, school mental health workers and international experts, a program is developed. This program is firstly tested in a pilot study (February 2021) and later in a large-scaled Randomized Controlled Trial (September 2021).
