PARDI norm study
How are the questions in the PARDI interview answered by children and adolescents with ARFID and their parents?
Since ARFID as a diagnosis and the PARDI interview are relatively new, we would like to know how the questions in this interview are generally answered.
Who can participate?
-
All children and adolescents and/ or their parents with whom the PARDI interview is conducted for diagnostic purposes.
Background
The Pica ARFID and Rumination disorder interview (PARDI) is used to gain insight in experienced eating disorder symptoms and to establish whether someone has ARFID. The subtype and severity of ARFID can also be determined. As a standard, we conduct this interview in children and adolescents if we think ARFID is present. A child and adolescent version as well as a parent-version of the interview are available. If a child is too young to participate in the interview the parent(s) will be interviewed with the parent-version. Sometimes the child as well as the parents are interviewed.
The research study
We would like to determine how children and adolescents with ARFID answer the questions of the PARDI interview generally. We can use these data to create norm groups, which are average scores that help interpret the severity of the complaints. This increases the usefulness of the interview as a diagnostic instrument.
When the interviews are administered for diagnostic purposes we will ask kids and their parents if we can use their answers for scientific research. So they do not have to do anything extra.
