- Researcher
Andrea Dietrich is a psychologist and senior researcher at Accare. Andrea is also associated with the University Medical Centre Groningen.
Biography
In her research, Andrea focuses primarily on the causes of tic disorders, ADHD and behavioural problems. She has a strong interest in exploring cognitive factors. Andrea was also European coordinator of the worldwide TIC Genetics study identifying the genes responsible for tics. She is interested in the interplay between genes and environmental factors, such as pregnancy complications or stress. In her clinically oriented research, she concentrates on the predictors of successful treatment, particularly the role of child characteristics, parents, and the family and social environment. She is also interested in improving the quality of life of children with tics and in the role of lifestyle factors in mental health.
