DREAMS
Dutch REsearch in child and Adolescent Mental health
DREAMS is a collaboration between the four large, academic institutions for child and adolescent psychiatry in the Netherlands: Accare, Curium (Leiden), Karakter (Nijmegen) and Levvel (Amsterdam).
By collaborative effort, we aim to identify and investigate current issues in Dutch mental healthcare for youth and predictors of successful treatment. We also investigate how current societal problems, such as the Covid-19 crisis, may affect children and adolescents that are being treated at one of the participating institutions. DREAMS is a new scientific consortium and therefore data is currently being collected. In the future, we might also start recruiting patients for scientific research projects that are part of DREAMS.
Background
DREAMS is being conducted to improve our understanding of the children and adolescents that are being treated at the participating institutions. In this respect, we aim to improve the current mental healthcare for vulnerable youth in the Netherlands.
The research study
Depending on the type of study, a variety of methods may be applicable for DREAMS. Examples include large online surveys, or investigating more specific subgroups of youth (and/or their families). This will be, however, dependent on the specific aims of a particular study.
