Pieter Hoekstra is Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Accare Child Study Center and the University of Groningen.

Biography

Pieter’s research primarily relates to children with a developmental disorder (ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, Gilles de la Tourette syndrome). He focuses on both aetiology (genetics, gene-environment interactions, neuroimaging) and treatment. One of his specific interests is research into the outcomes of children and adolescents being treated with psychopharmaceutical drugs, especially predictors of response, side-effects and the long-term effects of psychopharmaceuticals. 

Pieter is also active in patient care. He works at the Groningen outpatient clinic, primarily seeing children with tics and/or ADHD.
