Barbara van den Hoofdakker works as a professor and clinical psychologist/cognitive behavioral therapist and researcher at the Accare Child Study Center and the University of Groningen.
Biography
Barbara has worked at Accare since 1993. Both in clinical practice and scientific research, her focus is on the treatment of behavioral difficulties (including ADHD) in children. She highly values improving mental healthcare for children and adolescents by implementing recommendations from scientific research into practice. To this end, she regularly contributes to the development of national and international guidelines and practice standards. Since she joined Accare, she has held various roles, including head of a specialized clinical department for children with ADHD, disruptive behavior disorders and/or tic disorders and, until now, chair of the ADHD and behavioral disorders knowledge track. Since 2013, she has also been working at the University of Groningen combining her research and clinical work with the role of head of the Groningen post-master’s program for healthcare (GZ) psychologists and (since 2019) acting head of the post-master’s program for clinical psychologists.
