Paint-T
Is a brief teacher training program effective in reducing behavioral problems in elementary school children?
In the PAINT-T (the “T” stands for “teacher”) project, we investigate the behavioral teacher training for children with behavioral problems. By behavioral problems, we refer to issues such as disruptive or impulsive behavior, tantrums, not listening, aggressive behavior, or attention problems. We are researching how children with these behavioral issues can be best supported by their teachers.
Different studies
The PAINT-T project includes various studies, such as the PAINT-T Microtrial and the PAINT-T Trial. In the PAINT-T Microtrial, we examined the effectiveness of different behavioral techniques (antecedent and consequent techniques) that teachers learn in the training. This study showed that both types of techniques reduced behavioral problems. Therefore, we developed a new brief teacher training that combines both types of techniques. In the PAINT-T Trial, we are investigating the effectiveness of this new teacher training.
